Aleksander Mervar is one of the biggest energy experts in Slovenia and broader with over 40 years of experience, including 35+ in leadership roles in the energy industry. He is among the most frequently quoted energy experts both in the national and international media as well as among the professional, research and educational public. He started working in the energy industry at Strojna tovarna Trbovlje, later he was the deputy general manager at Rudnik Zagorje and then the same at Termoelectrarn Trbovlje, after which he managed the Ljubljana Thermal Power Plant. Since October 2013, when he took over the management of the system operator of the transmission network of the Republic of Slovenia, the company ELES has become the backbone of the Slovenian electricity industry and an innovative superpower of smart networks.
